Year in Reading Outro

December 22, 2017

This is the part of the Year in Reading where I’m supposed to count all the times each book was mentioned in the series and go over the highlights but frankly, I’m tired. 2017 has taken it out of me. As it happens, that was a theme this year, something our roster of amazing participants dealt with in different ways. Some people demanded fact over fiction; others found a lifeline in novels (Jeff VanderMeer apparently coped by reading everything that was published in 2017).

It’s been a long, eventful year. People were awash in news. People nursed parents and lost parents and had babies. They made art, too. At The Millions, we asked for your help (and so many of you gave it). We’re tired, but we’re grateful, and we’re looking ahead. Here’s to 2018, and to you.
