The book that meant most to me this year was Train Dreams by Denis Johnson. I don't have anything intelligent to say about it. I just thought it was very beautiful. Other favorites: The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson, Building Stories by Chris Ware, and an old book about the salad days of my new neighborhood: Kafka Was the Rage by Anatole Broyard.
