A Year in Reading: Neel Patel

Cristina Henríquez’s The Book of Unknown Americans is about race, redemption, and immigration, but at its core is a tender, aching love story. I cried and cried and cried.

Uzodinma Iweala’s Speak No Evil is so timely and necessary I can’t think of anything else to say other than you. must. read. this.

Jardine Libaire’s White Fur is a sparkling, sexy love story set in 1980s New York. It’s as much about love and desire as it is about race and class and society. I didn’t want it to end.
