Over at Guernica, Liza St. James interviews Adam Z. Levy and Ashley Nelson Levy, the founders of the independent press Transit Books. As they put it, “We were noticing this kind of partition between two types of readerships: those who read domestic literature and those who read translation. [...] We were interested in the separation of those literary spheres, and began to wonder how to bridge the gap between them.”

However, he’s not the only writer from long ago to live large, as made clear in this New Yorker piece by Elizabeth Kolbert -- inspired by the release of two new biographies -- that deals with the up-and-down life and reputation of Seneca. Jaden Smith is going from an action movie career to starring in an adaptation of James McBride's National Book Award-winning The Good Lord Bird. Liev Schreiber will play John Brown. If you're unsure about casting a rapper to play the protagonist, take it up with McBride, who is also producing the film.
The fuss is currently over John D'Agata and Jim Fingal's clashes over factual accuracy, but frankly I'm tired of hearing about it. Maybe it's because it sounds so reminiscent of David Shields' Reality Hunger (2010). Or, better yet, maybe it's because it sounds so reminiscent of David Sedaris' Naked (1997).
